In order for you to achieve the outcome that’s best for you, it’s important to make sure that we are the right fit to work together before you commit to any therapy sessions. This is why I offer a complimentary phone consultation, lasting 15-30 minutes, which gives you the opportunity to ask any questions and to see if my approach works for you.

During the call you can give me an idea of your problem without going into detail (unless you want to), and I will explain how hypnotherapy and our therapy sessions work so there are no surprises.

If you decide there and then that you’d like to proceed, we can arrange your first session while you’re on the phone. But if you prefer to have a think about it, I can email you some options for you to book when you are ready.

Our Therapy Sessions

Our first session will last about 90 minutes, during which we’ll discuss your problem, consider the underlying reasons, look at what you want to achieve and how you will know that things have changed. It’s important for you to feel relaxed during our sessions, so we’ll only go as fast as you want to. You can choose how much you share with me, so you always remain comfortable.

I’ll also make some notes and – with your permission – record the session as this helps me reflect on what we’ve discussed and determine the best course of action for you to make permanent change in the shortest possible time.

During subsequent therapy sessions, lasting about 60 minutes, we will work together using tools that suit your goals. I will guide you to a light hypnotic state – very much like daydreaming – that will help us access the memories and emotions that form part of your problem. You will be in total control and able to interact fully during the process.

Investing in your future self

I will provide you with a bespoke recording, which I will ask you to listen to regularly to support the work we do in our sessions together. I may also ask you to complete other tasks, such as keeping a journal.

But perhaps the most important part of our therapy sessions – and the periods in between – is your engagement with the process; only you can make the changes you want to make so there will be things for you to do between our sessions. You might like to think of it as an investment in your future self.

Fees

Each session costs £80.

There are no other charges. My fees include any MP3 recordings supplied to support you between sessions. I can also be contacted between sessions by phone or email, if needed. Details of how and when to pay are outlined in my Terms and Conditions.

How many therapy sessions will I need?

As each person’s problem is different, it is difficult to be precise about this, but the average is usually somewhere around 3 to 6 sessions. Some of this depends on how well you are engaged in the process, but as most therapy happens between sessions, the more you put in, the more quickly you are likely to see the benefit.

My aim is to help you make the change permanent so you can move forward with your life in the way you want to as soon as possible.

How frequent are sessions?

We usually start with an interval of two weeks between therapy sessions, but this will depend on you and how you are feeling. Leaving a break between sessions allows you time to practise any techniques that we have covered and notice any changes that have occurred.  We tend to increase the gap as time goes on and you begin to feel more in control.

Can you guarantee hypnotherapy will work for me?

One of the main principles of Cognitive Hypnotherapy is centred around you taking responsibility for your own success: so as every individual is different, so is every outcome. My job is to act as your guide, helping you to restore control in your life, but I can’t make you change your way of thinking – only you can choose to do that.

What I can guarantee is that I will work with you to find a solution so you achieve the best outcome in the shortest possible time.

What is hypnosis and is it completely safe?

Although most people are a little nervous about hypnotherapy to start with, I can reassure you that hypnosis is nothing like you see on stage or on TV. There will be no swinging pocket watches to send you into a deep trance and make you cluck like a chicken, as all we need is for you to feel very relaxed to achieve a successful outcome. And although I will be encouraging you into a light trance state so that we can engage with your unconscious, you will be completely aware of what is happening throughout the process and you will always be in control of what you say and do.  So, it is completely safe. In fact, it’s a bit like daydreaming where you can ‘come to’ whenever you want to.

Is there anyone you can't or don't work with?

As a member of both the NCH and QCHPA, I am bound by clear guidelines and ethics which dictate who I can and cannot work with. I will not be able to work with you if:

  • If you are currently seeing another therapist
  • If you have ever been diagnosed with any of the conditions listed in my Hypnotherapy Partnership Contract for which hypnotherapy are contra-indicated, including epilepsy and psychosis.

I do not work with alcoholism or drug addiction as this requires specialist help.

In some cases, I may need to contact your GP prior to working with you.

I only work with people over the age of 18.
